This was a combination of using a more AI-focused audience-targeting strategy and server-side conversion measurement.
Even allowing for seasonality, the results speak for themselves!
Using the server-side API allows the AI to target prospects more efficiently.
This, in turn, improves the conversion rate so you get a reduction in the cost per result.
The return on ad spend (ROAS) was nearly three times the required target!
Again, this was a knock-on effect of the lower cost-per-result and improvements in ad delivery efficiency.

Founded in 2010, Simply Baby is a nursery specialist that stocks prams, pushchairs and baby travel systems from leading high-street brands.
Having grown frustrated with the lack of real results from several marketing agencies, they asked for my help in April 2024.

The account relied heavily on standard Google Shopping and text ads so wasn’t prospecting for new buyers effectively. I designed a new approach using Performance Max, customer signals, and the new Search Themes system. There was an immediate improvement in account performance and the results speak for themselves.
Since we are now using AI rather than old-school keywords, I was able to target engaged shoppers more cost-effectively which led to a massive 89% reduction in the cost per conversion.
The initial ROAS target was too high for this market and suppressed the conversion rate. I sacrificed some ROAS for Revenue which is a more sustainable long-term strategy. This, along with more efficient targeting and creative improvements, led to huge gains in a matter of weeks.
Because Performance Max is generally better at finding in-market shoppers at the lower end of the funnel, the AOV tends to increase. This usually improves ROAS.
