As is often the case in the Internet Marketing industry, I got into it in a roundabout way. I developed a taste for selling online in the early noughties - initially selling musical instruments which was still fairly unusual back then.

In 2005, I got the chance to set up a Home & Garden D2C e-commerce company from scratch for an established B2B importer. This included sourcing products from China, fulfilment, logistics, design, and working with creative agencies for web development. I even packed a few boxes! I also got my first introduction to the wonderful world of Search Engine Marketing. I asked them the question everyone always asks - How Do I Sell More?!
So I brought Digital Marketing in-house and spent the next few years becoming well-read on the subject. In 2008, I took the leap and set up a consultancy to help small to medium businesses get a foothold on Google and from there, started subcontracting for several web design and marketing agencies around the UK. I found myself rubbing shoulders with some seriously talented people and I learned a lot from them.
Since then I’ve worked for a number of agencies full-time, as a Director and as a contractor with a specialism in Google Shopping and Meta Ads.
During this time, I came out in the top 1% in Google's peer performance program and generated literally billions in profitable revenue for clients of all sizes in many diverse and challenging niches.
A robust business background has given me a unique commercial perspective on Search Engine Marketing that very few marketers have and it’s served me well over the years.
I set up Telemachus because I wanted to go back to my e-commerce roots and help merchants who were in the same position as me but in a way that was scalable and affordable.
One of the great joys for me is seeing real-world growth. One minute you might be working directly with a busy MD, and a newly recruited marketing department the next. It’s not just numbers on a screen, I’ve seen clients build new warehouses, factories, and delivery fleets, others have doubled their workforce in a matter of months all down to PPC and Paid Social Advertising. It’s been an absolute pleasure, especially the Christmas presents from happy clients!
