The history of Google Shopping reflects the evolution of e-commerce and online advertising, with Google continuously adapting its platform to meet the changing needs of consumers and merchants. I was lucky enough to be a part of this from the start and it really was a game changer.
Initially known as Froogle in 2007, Google has rebranded Google Shopping several times over the years. The most significant change was the shift from a free model to a paid model for merchants in 2012. Instead of relying solely on organic search results, merchants had to participate in Google's advertising platform, Google Ads, to have their products featured prominently. It was rolled out globally in 2013 and was fully integrated into Google Ads in 2019.
If you sell products online, then Google Shopping is an absolute must. I specialise in Google Shopping and have an excellent track record for turning merchants into market leaders in record time through Google Shopping alone.
I've been running Google Shopping campaigns since it became a paid service in 2012. As a Google Beta Tester, I’ve always been one step ahead in adopting AI and Machine learning for online retail.
I create and manage optimised Google Shopping product feeds on most e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, Magento, Big-Commerce, and others as part of a growth-focused Google Ads Management Service.
